Some Frequently Answered Questions

What is Colchester Coffee Collective?

We’re a collective of six friends, with one passion – finding incredible small batch coffee. We roast our coffees in Colchester, and deliver to friends, neighbours, and the wider local community. Most of our coffee stays right here in the city — but we’re always happy to send a bag (or two) beyond CO postcodes.

What do you actually sell?

Freshly roasted whole bean coffee, packed in conveniently sized, eco-friendly bags, ready for home brewing. We grind our beans to order, as required.

Where do you roast?

Right here in Colchester. Small batches, local roasting, no unnecessary miles. We like knowing where our coffee comes from — and where it’s going.

Are you mainly for local customers?

Yes — and proudly so. Most of our coffee goes to local homes, offices, and small businesses around Colchester. Supporting local keeps us roasting, and we’re endlessly grateful for it. If you’re further afield, you’re very welcome too.

Where do you deliver?

We offer free local delivery a mile from the roaster and a little further afield where we can. Anyone outside of this area is welcome to order and we pass on a small contribution for delivery. Local orders usually arrive next, or even the same day. Postage orders 2-4 working days.

How fresh is your coffee?

Fresh fresh. We roast very regularly and send out coffee we’d be excited to brew ourselves. No dusty warehouse bags here.

Can I choose whole bean or ground?

Of course. Choose whole bean or pick a grind size that matches how you brew at home. We grind this to order, ensuring pristine freshness.

What grind options do you offer?

Espresso and Cafetière grinds are standard, but we can grind on request to include filter/pour-over, Aeropress and moka pot.

If you’re not sure, don’t stress — we’re friendly and we’ll help.

Where do your beans come from?

Our beans come from producers and importers who fell the same as us - people who value transparency, fairness, and doing things properly. Green beans are chosen for quality, ethics, and great flavour. We do the roasting locally — that’s where the Colchester magic happens.

Do you work with local cafés or businesses?

Yes! We love working with local cafés, studios, shops, and offices. If you’re Colchester-based and interested in serving or stocking our coffee, drop us a message.

How should I store my coffee?

Keep it sealed, cool, and out of direct sunlight. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.

Can I return coffee?

Because it’s a food product, we can’t accept returns on opened bags. If something’s off though, get in touch — we’re reasonable humans.

How do I get in touch?

Head to our contact page or find us on social. If you’re local, there’s a decent chance we’ve crossed paths already — or will soon.
